Chris de Longpre, Designer I self-publish individual patterns for hand knitters, under the business name Knitting At KNoon Designs, established in 2003. I started designing after my retirement from a career in information technology geekdom, mostly as an excuse to have more time to knit for my grandchildren (who now number 4!). Knitting At KNoon Designs, LLC has now published more than 50 patterns, available across the United States, Canada, and in Australia. We are a wholesale company, selling only to local and on-line yarn stores. Shape, drape, and line are the main elements of my designs, which are mostly classic silhouettes coupled with an unusual trim detail or a bit of whimsy. I like to relax while knitting and try to design projects that I will like to knit, so there is a lot of stockinet stitch (for movie watching in the evenings). Pattern stitches are almost always 4- or 6-row repeats that are easily memorized. Frequently, my sense of humor peaks through, because I hope my designs are fun to own as well as fun to knit. Other work: Memberships: John de Longpre, Right Hand
My husband, John, has been a major part of this company from the beginning, providing
videography and support from the sidelines. He also cheerfully accompanies me to knitting
shows, including the TNNA exhibits in June and January. Once his beast-of-burden duties
are performed and our display is ready, you will also meet him writing orders and explaining
the designs right by my side. Since we share office space, he's also, most often, the voice
answering the phone when you call.
Gini Moreau, Designer
Our older daughter, Gini, is a young mother who still has time to design a few items for our
pattern line. She has contributed two free patterns to our pages and published her
first design, Polar Baby Caps, in 2005. In 2006, she contributed Wee Warmers and It's In The
Bag. In May, 2008, her fourth pattern, Funky Punky Leg Warmers, joined our catalog and she
began managing our distribution center, printing and shipping all the patterns. Elli Coale, Model
Our younger daughter, Elli, is also a young mother and continues to grace our patterns as our
main adult model. |
